The Nolde Foundation is our gem up here on the coast. If you want to get a feel for us North Frisians, you have to have been there once or, better yet, several times. Emil Nolde painted our sea landscape so wonderfully and in strong colors that no one can escape the fascination of his pictures. It’s beautiful here and he captured that in many of his pictures. So we will take a look at the museum at our leisure and with an expert guide and of course the 68th annual exhibition 2024 »Emil Nolde, which will dominate this year. fantasies.”
“With this topic, the Nolde Museum Seebüll is devoting itself for the first time to a previously little-noticed complex of works by Emil Nolde. Spontaneously and unconsciously, he painted strange creatures on canvas and paper throughout all phases of his work. These include both funny fellows and ghostly-looking creatures find.” Quote from the Nolde Museumapprox. 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. . Bike tour to Tøndern
We continue via Møgeltønder to the historic town of Tøndern.
Here we will visit the most beautiful street in Denmark and have a guided tour of Schackenborg Castle.“When you enter the palace square of Schackenborg Castle, stroll through the beautiful palace park or stroll through the beautiful halls and rooms of the palace, you can experience the traces of a history that stretches 1,000 or more years into the past.
Learn more about the former Møgeltønderhus Castle, the predecessor of the current castle and a bastion of the Danish crown and church in the fight against the Counts of Holstein. Look forward to the many stories about the construction of Schackenborg Castle and the eleven generations of the Schack family who lived here. For example, have you ever heard of the Silver Arm, or do you know who the evil Countess is?
In 1978 the castle returned to the possession of the Danish royal family. The prince couple lived in the castle until 2014 and now uses it as a second home.” Quote from Schackenborg Castle

11:00 a.m. – approx. 5:00 p.m. . Rantum Basin
We hike to the Keitum dike and there to the pumping station at the Rantum basin, which was artificially created as a landing area for seaplanes during the Second World War. There is a lot to report there: about the Rantum Basin, about the dike and the circular path created with it, about the adjacent salt marshes and about the extensive bird life that is native here and the basin as a resting place for trips to the south of Europe on the way back up to the Scandinavian north. We then indulge in the old Frisian national sport – Boßeln. The aim is to push a slightly larger wooden ball along the lonely paths along the dike. Several teams compete against each other. This is fun and cheers you up. And occasionally the participants find one or two surprises on the right and left of the path that are suitable for providing inner warmth.
Afterwards we have a snack on the dike island.
After the snack we walk together back to the BENEN-DIKEN-HOF. If you are no longer able to do this, a shuttle service is available.
